5. Yankees part ways with the Captain and they haven't missed a beat.
-The juggernaut that is the Yankees are in first place with an impressive 14-4 record. Keeping with their usual procedure they dealt the farm to improve their major league team. Its World Series or bust for the Yanks as always.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. AL West Standings
-After 18 games there is not one team over .500 and the defending AL Champions are currently in last place with a 4-14 record but only 4 games behind first place Oakland.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Baltimore Orioles
-The Os have been bad for a long time, but could this year be the year they turn it around? After a 12-6 start it will be interesting to see if they can keep this up and get into a pennant race.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Preseason World Series Favorites Stumble out of the Gate
-The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies were the two teams that many analysts predicted to be in the World Series and both have not preformed to expectations so far but with those pitching staffs theres no doubt they'll get on track.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. First Place New York Mets?!
-After a terrible season for the second year in a row the New York Mets have gone out this season with an attitude they haven't showed since they were the division champs in '06. The core is still all there and playing great. Without ace Johan Santana for the first few months, R.A. Dickey has become the Mets ace picking up right where he left off last season with a 4-0 record in 4 starts. There are still many doubters of the Mets and they and their fans would love nothing more than to shut the critics up.
