Recently ESPN has reported that the Chicago White Sox are less then pleased with their pitching. However, to what extreme was not known until today. Chicago GM, AJ, held a press conference issuing a statement that he would be searching for a big arm and that the team has high hopes of acquiring a big name talent.
"I'm calling out my pitching staff, either shape up or ship out. It's enough. I see fives and I see fours and it's unacceptable. Shape up or ship out."
According to sources AJ has held a number of tryouts for his minor league pitchers, but they have yet to yield anything positive. Recently tried out pitchers include:
Deunte Heath AAA 2-1 3.91
Wes Whisler AAA 2-4 5.26
Lucas Harrell AAA 7.34
As you can see, and as the Chicago staff saw, these pitchers aren't exactly the class of the ML. In fact AJ was quoted again on Thursday as being unhappy with the results.
"I'm not pleased, and what is there to be pleased about? The pitchers we brought in did not perform. Maybe free agency is the way to go? Maybe I'll go to my Single A guys heck I bet Rookie Leaguers want this job! Somebody step up!"
Same fans have also chimed in:
"The team is in first place, but he [AJ] has a point. The pitching is looking terrible and this team won't last as it is now. Something has to be done"- Ronald Sampsons
"The pitching isn't getting the job done. Acquiring Hanley was nice, but that was only the first step. Get us some arms, or we're gonna be sitting alone come September."- Shirley Wishbone
As recently as yesterday word broke out that AJ has sent letters to all the GM's asking about pitching help. With Cleveland and Detroit breathing down Chicago's neck how long can they hold them off? And if a big trade comes how big will that trade be?
